Road Accident Involving DSS Operatives in Osun State Convoy: Speaker Unharmed
In a recent incident in the Dagbolu area of Osun State, a road accident occurred involving operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) who were part of the convoy of the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Wale Egbedun. Fortunately, Speaker Egbedun was not in the vehicle at the time of the accident, ensuring his safety.
Injury and Hospitalization
The DSS operatives and the driver of the vehicle, however, were not as fortunate, as they sustained injuries during the accident.
The incident took place on the Osogbo/Ikirun road while the convoy was en route to Odo Otin Local Government Area, accompanying Speaker Egbedun to his constituency, where he had planned to attend a church service.
Treatment and Minor Injuries
According to Olamide Tiamiyu, the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, those in the vehicle suffered minor injuries and were promptly treated at a private hospital in Osogbo.
The accident was attributed to a tire problem that caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. Fortunately, two of the DSS operatives who sustained slight cuts were treated and discharged, while the others were also discharged the following morning.
Speaker’s Safety Priority
It’s worth noting that the safety of Speaker Wale Egbedun remained a priority, as he had traveled earlier with a different group of individuals and was not present in the vehicle during the accident.
The incident serves as a reminder of the unexpected challenges that can arise during official duties, even for security personnel accompanying government officials.
