In a recent funding round, Cultivo successfully raised $10 million, bringing its total funding to $20 million.

The investment was spearheaded by MassMutual Ventures and Octopus Energy Generation, with active participation from Salkantay Ventures and Peña Verde.

Cultivo’s Vision and Utilization of Funds

Cultivo, operating as a public benefit corporation under the leadership of CEO Dr. Manuel Piñuela, focuses on accelerating investments for large-scale nature regeneration.

The company aims to amplify the value of natural capital through its advanced AI-driven science and technology platform.

With the newly acquired funds, Cultivo plans to further enhance this platform, reinforcing its capabilities.

Nature Regeneration on a Global Scale

At the core of Cultivo’s mission is the mobilization of various capital sources into land regeneration projects that facilitate carbon removal, boost biodiversity, and enhance water storage.

By leveraging AI technology for project origination, the company collaborates closely with NGOs and land partners to ensure fair and equitable project standards that benefit local communities and land stewards.

Impressive Project Portfolio and Collaborations

Cultivo boasts a pipeline of over 100 million hectares for nature-based carbon removal projects, surpassing the landmass of California by more than double.

The company has also entered into a strategic agreement with Octopus Energy Generation, committing up to $40 million for deployment into natural capital projects spanning North America, Europe, and Australasia.

CEO’s Perspective and Future Endeavors

Dr. Manuel Piñuela expressed his gratitude for the support from investors, highlighting the growing recognition of the natural capital investment opportunity.

He emphasized that companies are increasingly seeking a stable supply of high-quality carbon removal credits to address concerns in the volatile voluntary carbon market.

The secured funding positions Cultivo to continue delivering its expanding portfolio of natural capital projects, serving institutional customers and advancing the development of its AI-driven science and technology platform.

Cultivo’s commitment to regenerating nature on a global scale is reinforced by the partnership with MassMutual Ventures and Octopus Energy Generation, marking a significant step in the company’s mission.
