…By Lola Smith for TDPel Media. Renowned animal rights activist and President of the My Dog & I group, Jackie Idimogu, has expressed strong disapproval towards chef Hilda Baci for her consumption of dog meat.
Hilda Baci, who recently attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking marathon, returned to her hometown in Akwa Ibom accompanied by influencer Enioluwa Adeoluwa.
A video that quickly went viral depicted the couple dining at a table where dog meat was being served.
Acknowledging the incident, Hilda admitted to eating dog meat herself and attempting to persuade Enioluwa to try it as well, though he declined.
In response to the footage, Jackie Idimogu released a video statement on her social media platform, accusing Hilda of cruelty towards animals.
She expressed her dismay upon discovering Hilda’s tweet boasting about consuming dog meat.
Jackie highlighted that members of her organization displayed their support by wearing their group shirts and bringing along dogs as a demonstration.
She initially had reservations about endorsing Hilda during her cooking marathon upon learning of her Akwa Ibom origin.
However, she decided to give the chef the benefit of the doubt, believing that Hilda had been exposed to different perspectives.
Nevertheless, Jackie was deeply disappointed by Hilda’s choice to perpetuate the stereotype of Nigerians as dog eaters, particularly when Hilda’s culinary accomplishments were being celebrated worldwide.
In conclusion, Jackie Idimogu strongly criticized chef Hilda Baci and influencer Enioluwa Adeoluwa for their involvement in consuming dog meat, emphasizing the importance of respecting animals and debunking stereotypes about certain cultural practices.
