Civil Service Commission Trains Support Staff For Enhanced Service Delivery

As part of efforts to enhance staff development and ensure improved service delivery in the Public Service, the Lagos State Civil Service Commission (CSC) has organised a one-day retreat for support staff, including Drivers, Janitorial and Front Desk officers, at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, Alausa, Ikeja.
Speaking at the retreat with the theme: “Changing the Narrative; Civil Service Commission’s Role in Repositioning the State Public Service”, the Chairman of the Commission, Mrs. Olubunmi Fabamwo, informed the participants that the CSC considered it necessary to organise the retreat for the support staff in cognisance of the fact that all members of staff are vital to the growth and success of any organisation.
Fabamwo, represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Mrs. Boladele Dapo-Thomas, noted that the CSC had earlier organised similar retreats for its management and senior staff, adding that the event was put together as part of the government’s resolve not to leave anyone behind.
She informed that the Commission members and management are interested in the welfare of all staffers, urging the participants to listen and participate fully in the sessions organised to better equip them for effective service delivery
Fabamwo also charged the participants to ensure that they take good care of their health and observe the COVID-19 protocols, especially when attending assemblies and social functions.
Continuing, she disclosed that Mr. Governor had approved a budgetary line for the Commission’s Support Service, in view of their efforts and the need to ensure their wellbeing.The Chairman, therefore, enjoined participants to reciprocate Governments kind gesture by ensuring honesty, transparency and timely delivery on any job assigned to them in accordance with the Commissions Core Values of Professionalism, Integrity, Teamwork, Excellence, Commitment and Transparency (P.I.T.E.C.T).
In his remarks, the Director, Career Management Directorate, Mr. Kehinde Yusuf, expressed delight at the vision of the Commission in organising the retreat, which he noted was not a common occurrence in the Service.
On her part, the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Mrs. Abike Adeleye-Segun, expressed gratitude to God for making the event a reality while also thanking the management of the Civil Service Commission for their support.
Some of the topics treated at the event by the facilitator, Mr. Femi Sholaja, the Director of Programmes at the Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), included Attitudinal Orientation/Relationship Management as well as Code of Conduct and Ethics in the Public Service.
