…By Adetayo Ajala for TDPel Media. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were seen leaving a ballroom in New York with smiles on their faces after their first public appearance together since the birth of their daughter, Lilibet.
Body language expert Judi James analyzed Meghan’s speech at the event and noted that she spoke in a dreamier tone than usual, adopting an open and sing-song voice while accepting a feminist award.
James described Meghan as being in “goddess mode,” with her dress and styling reflecting confidence and power.
She mentioned that Meghan made a powerful reference to her mother, Doria Ragland, using a vertical chopping gesture to convey pride and a desire to defend.
Meghan also employed verbal mirroring and open gestures to connect with the audience.
During her speech, Meghan shared childhood memories of eating dinner in front of the quiz show Jeopardy! and mentioned her mother’s subscription to the feminist magazine Ms. James observed that Meghan touched her hair in a self-lowering gesture while creating empathy through verbal mirroring and adopting a nostalgic voice.
Meghan paid tribute to her mother, expressing honor at having her in the audience. James noted Meghan’s use of hand gestures, including a vertical chopping gesture with her left hand to convey pride and protectiveness, and an outward gesture with her right hand to acknowledge her mother’s presence.
Meghan was presented with the Women of Vision Award by feminist activist Gloria Steinem.
In her closing remarks, she encouraged everyone to be the visionary of their own lives, emphasizing that there is still much work to be done.
This event marked the first public appearance for Prince Harry and Meghan together since the Duke’s solo trip to the King’s coronation.
While Harry attended the event, Meghan chose to stay in California with their children.
In previous years, the couple received the NAACP President’s Award and the Robert F Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award at a ceremony in New York.
