Bishop Kukah Calls for Mediation in Israel-Hamas Conflict

Matthew Kukah, the bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, expressed regret over the conflict between Israel and Hamas, a terrorist organisation with its headquarters in Palestine.

In a Tuesday interview with Arise News, Kukah claimed that the Palestinian situation has been managed by powerful countries and has come to be seen as an unresolved and unacknowledged problem.

The preacher claimed that the five Permanent Members of the United Nations (UN) treated the Palestinians like simple pawns and that the UN had no real goals.

As a result, Kukah suggested that the former US President Barack Obama, the King of Jordan, Abdullah, the former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, the former President of Ireland, Mary Robinson, and the former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, serve as prospective mediators to end the conflict.

“America has to be in the room because they are currently the most powerful country in the world, pound for pound,” he declared.

“We need to deploy a certain level of moral authority and courage to say, listen, people, this cannot continue,” the speaker said.

“There are so many battles being fought at the same time, and there is a lot of heavy lifting to be done.”

Since they were given the mandate, the United Kingdom must be there for extremely realistic strategic grounds.

“I believed Gordon Brown would be a good representation because, in addition to having the intellectual capacity, he is also physically invisible.”
