Ben Woodburn, who made headlines as Liverpool’s youngest-ever goalscorer, is starting a new chapter with League Two side Salford City.
At just 24 years old, Woodburn’s career has seen its fair share of highs and lows, and now he’s looking to make a fresh impact at his new club.
In 2016, Woodburn became Liverpool’s youngest goalscorer at the age of 17 years and 45 days, a record previously held by Michael Owen since 1997.
Despite this promising start, he struggled to secure a regular spot in the first team and spent much of his time on loan.
Recent Moves and New Beginnings
After leaving Liverpool in 2022, Woodburn joined Preston North End, where he faced a more challenging role in the 2023-24 season.
With limited playing time, he was released this summer and is now looking forward to a fresh start with Salford City.
Salford City’s Ambitions
Salford City has been actively strengthening their squad this summer, adding players like James Chester and Cole Stockton.
Under the management of Karl Robinson, who previously guided MK Dons to promotion, Salford City is keen on making a push for promotion from League Two.
Robinson, who previously had Woodburn on loan at Oxford United, is optimistic about what the young midfielder can bring to the team.
Looking Ahead
With 11 international caps to his name, though his last appearance was in 2021, Woodburn’s move to Salford City represents a significant opportunity for him to showcase his talents and contribute to the team’s ambitions.
As Salford City aims to climb the league ranks, all eyes will be on how Woodburn adapts and performs in his new environment.
