…By Jack Sylva for TDPel Media. Today, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will take his oath of office and officially assume the role of President of Nigeria for the next four years, unless determined otherwise by the court.
Alongside Tinubu, 28 governors-elect and their deputies will also be sworn in across the country.
The inauguration ceremony for Tinubu and Vice-President-elect Kashim Shettima will be held at the Eagle Square in Abuja.
Tinubu’s inauguration marks the 7th consecutive democratic transition of power in Nigeria since the country’s return to civilian administration in 1999.
This significant event highlights the continuity of Nigeria’s democratic governance under the leadership of President Tinubu.
The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kayode Ariowola.
Senator Kashim Shettima also took his oath of office as the Vice President of Nigeria, administered by the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
Numerous dignitaries have gathered at the Eagle Square in Abuja for the event, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan, and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation of Nigeria, Babaga Kingibe.
The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, and other notable figures are also in attendance.
Teeming supporters of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) expressed their displeasure by booing the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, and the Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, during the inauguration ceremony at Sani Abacha Stadium.
Prominent business figures such as Aliko Dangote, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Group, Abdulsamad Rabiu, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of BUA Group, and Femi Otedola, Executive Chairman of Geregu Power PLC, are present at the venue to witness the swearing-in ceremony.
The live transmission of President-elect Bola Tinubu and Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima’s swearing-in will be broadcasted by national television stations and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).
Furthermore, more than 20 presidents from various countries, including African nations, have arrived in Abuja to witness the inauguration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the 16th President of Nigeria.
