AmaZulu FC has recently made a significant change to their coaching staff.
Following Wayne Sandilands’ departure earlier this month, the club has welcomed a new goalkeeper coach.
Sandilands, who had been with AmaZulu for a year, has joined Fadlu Davids’ technical team at Simba SC in Tanzania.
In the wake of Sandilands’ exit, AmaZulu has brought in Aubrey Vilakazi as the new goalkeeper coach. Vilakazi, who previously worked with the club’s DStv Diski Challenge team, was recommended for the role by head coach Pablo Franco Martin.
He was officially introduced to the team on Monday, which also marked the announcement of the club’s new sponsors.
AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu expressed confidence in Vilakazi’s abilities.
“He’s young and has proven himself as a valuable asset in our development ranks,” Zungu said. “We’re confident he will excel with the first team as well.”
New Signings and Future Plans
On the same day, AmaZulu also unveiled several new signings, including Kwanda Mngonyama, Luvuyo Phewa, Etiosa Ighodaro, Boniface Haba, Senzo Ndlovu, Leonardo Roy, and Thato Matli.
Notably, Matli and Roy are set to be loaned out ahead of the new season.
Zungu acknowledged that while the squad from last season was among the best in the PSL, the results did not meet expectations. “The transfer window closes in September, and we still have time to strengthen the team,” he added. “We will continue to seek new players until the coach is satisfied with the squad.”
