This comes in response to the hike in fuel prices after President Bola Tinubu declared an end to fuel subsidies.
Jilantikiri, who represents Madagali Constituency, has abandoned his personal car in favor of a bicycle given the current circumstances.
Lawmaker Expresses Concern for Nigerians Amid Fuel Price Hike
During an interview with journalists while riding his bicycle on Thursday, Jilantikiri expressed his concern for the majority of Nigerians who are unable to afford the new petrol prices.
He lamented the devastating impact of the situation on the masses and called on leaders, including himself, to identify with their constituents and protest against this trend.
He urged the Federal Government to address the issue promptly to alleviate the already existing hardships.
Charly Boy Supports Tinubu’s Fuel Subsidy Removal
In a separate development, renowned Nigerian entertainer and socio-political activist, Charles Oputa, widely known as Charly Boy, publicly endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s decision to remove fuel subsidies.
Charly Boy, who was a vocal supporter of Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the previous election, expressed his support for the removal of fuel subsidies, emphasizing that the timing for such action is appropriate.
Advocating for the Country’s Economy
Taking to his official Twitter account, Charly Boy stated that the issue transcends allegiance to a specific candidate and addresses the problem of alleged criminal elements that are disrupting the country’s economy.
By endorsing the fuel subsidy removal, he highlights the need to address these issues and restore stability to Nigeria’s economy.
