Massive Collision Unfolds Off Naples as Steve Jobs’ $140 Million Yacht Crashes into Mexican Billionaire’s $125 Million Vessel

In a dramatic turn of events, a $140 million megayacht owned by Laurene Powell Jobs collided with another luxurious vessel belonging to a Mexican telecom magnate.

The incident took place off the coast of Naples, Italy, and involved two of the world’s most opulent yachts: the 78-meter Venus, once commissioned by the late Steve Jobs, and the 105-meter Lady Moura, owned by billionaire Ricardo Salinas.

The collision occurred after a sudden gust of wind sent the two yachts on a crash course.

Despite being anchored, the powerful winds caused the yachts to smash into each other.

Video footage from the Lady Moura captures the chaotic moment of impact, with crew members heard shouting in panic as the vessels collided. The incident happened on July 22nd, when a sudden wind burst reached speeds of 55 knots, according to sources close to the Venus crew.

Miscommunication and Damage

At the time of the accident, Powell Jobs was not on board her yacht, which was arriving at port as the last vessel of the day. Unbeknownst to the crew, the Lady Moura had dropped anchor with double the expected amount of chain, which contributed to the collision.

Although neither yacht dragged its anchor, the differing lengths of the anchor lines led to the crash.

Salinas, the owner of the Lady Moura, has stated that the repairs will be costly, and his video online suggests it was the Venus that approached the larger vessel. However, the Venus crew argues that the Lady Moura, with its longer anchor line, swung into their yacht.

Aftermath and Reactions

In the aftermath, both captains assessed the situation and deemed the incident minor, though repairs are necessary. Salinas has publicly expressed his frustration, suggesting that the Venus was at fault and that the damage will be expensive to repair.

He criticized the crew’s lack of awareness and used the incident to promote his own company, urging people to purchase Apple products to help cover the repair costs.

About the Yachts

The Venus, designed by French designer Philippe Starck in collaboration with Steve Jobs, is known for its sleek, minimalist design. The yacht features an aluminum hull, 40-foot ceilings, and six identically sized bedrooms.

It was designed with meticulous attention to detail, reflecting Jobs’ renowned focus on design excellence.
