British Teenager Sajawal Aziz Tragically Passes Away After Being Found Unresponsive at Swimming Pool in Sweden During Youth Football Tournament

A heartbreaking tragedy has struck as Sajawal Aziz, a 16-year-old from Hounslow, West London, has passed away following a serious incident in Sweden.

Sajawal was competing in a youth football tournament when he was found unresponsive at the bottom of a swimming pool in Nolhaga Parkbad in Allingsås on July 19. Despite immediate intervention, Sajawal’s life could not be saved.

Sajawal Aziz was known for his vibrant personality and talent on the football field.

He had traveled to Sweden to participate in the prestigious Gothia Cup, the world’s largest youth football tournament.

Reports indicate that a fellow player discovered Sajawal in the pool and pulled him out, but the delay in assistance has raised serious concerns.

A family friend has claimed that Sajawal may have been left in the pool for up to five minutes before being rescued.

After being rushed to Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sajawal was placed in a coma.

His family, desperately seeking to have him returned to the UK for further treatment, remained by his side throughout this harrowing time.

Tragically, despite their efforts, Sajawal’s condition did not improve, and he passed away a week later.

His local mosque in Hounslow confirmed the sad news, leaving his family and friends in shock and mourning.

Unsettling Details and Ongoing Investigation

Questions have been raised about the circumstances surrounding Sajawal’s death. Ravleen Arora, whose brother had been friends with Sajawal, initiated a GoFundMe campaign to support the family.

She revealed that there were no CCTV cameras or lifeguards present at the pool during the incident, leading to concerns about how Sajawal’s plight went unnoticed for so long.

Reports also indicate that a British boy managed to pull Sajawal from the pool before staff administered CPR.

Sajawal was then airlifted to the hospital, where doctors reportedly considered turning off his life support.

The family attempted to obtain a court injunction to bring him back to the UK, but this was deemed too risky given his fragile condition.

A Devastated Community

Sajawal’s passing has left his family and community devastated. His parents and younger sister are struggling with the loss, and Ravleen has shared that his mother is inconsolable.

Sajawal was one of 128 English teams competing in the Gothia Cup, which features nearly 2,000 teams from 80 countries.

 Ongoing Investigation and Previous Incidents

The exact cause of Sajawal’s death is still under investigation.

A spokesperson for the Gothia Cup expressed deep concern and sadness over the incident.

Notably, this is the second consecutive year that a tragic event has occurred at Nolhaga Parkbad during the tournament. Last year, a 15-year-old Ethiopian player also died under similar circumstances.

Authorities are looking into any connections between the two incidents.

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has stated that they are providing consular support to Sajawal’s family during this difficult time.
