On Monday, Simone Ashley flaunted her incredible figure in a striking black bikini while on a sun-soaked vacation. The *Bridgerton* star, who’s 29, took to Instagram to share some sizzling snaps from her getaway.
In her latest posts, Simone looked absolutely fabulous in a beaded triangle top paired with matching tie-side bottoms. She was all smiles as she basked in the sun, lying on a blue towel on the grass and working on a crossword puzzle.
Simone was spotted shielding her eyes from the bright sunlight with chic sunglasses while snuggling up with her adorable Spaniel.
The actress seemed to be in great spirits as she took a refreshing dip in a nearby lake with her pet to cool off from the scorching heat.
Recently, Simone has opened up about her experience as an actress of Indian heritage. Rather than feeling pressured to represent her community, she chooses to celebrate it. Simone rose to fame in 2022 for her role as Kate Sharma in the Netflix hit *Bridgerton*.
Her character’s Indian background brought a significant touch of South Asian culture to the series, which was widely praised for its diversity.
On the cover of Vogue India’s May issue, Simone discussed her feelings about representing her community. When asked about the pressure of portraying Indians, she responded, “Not really, because I’m an actor.
I’m not traveling far and wide to India to save the country. But when you watch and read up on the history of India and what her people have gone through, it does feel heavy.”
The Joy of Representation
Simone shared that it’s incredibly rewarding when other women of color tell her how much it means to see someone like herself on screen. “Representing Indian women has been such a joy,” she said.
“Ninety-nine percent of the people who recognize me and come up to me are women of color, and that’s the best feeling because they’re so excited for me.”
She continued, “They’ll hug me and tell me how cool it is to see brown women on-screen. It makes me feel safe and seen. Even though I might be on a street in London, I suddenly don’t feel like I’m part of a minority community.
There might be pressure on women representing their communities in the arts, but for now, I’m just happy and celebrating it.”
Supporting Co-Star Nicola Coughlan
Last month, Simone addressed the online negativity faced by her *Bridgerton* co-star Nicola Coughlan.
Speaking at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival in Monaco, Simone praised Nicola for her resilience amid the online trolls targeting her for her role as Penelope Featherington.
Simone mentioned, “Yeah, the haters are going to hate, and I think we can all relate to that, but I really don’t think she’s letting it bother her.” She expressed her strong belief in Nicola’s talent and bright future, saying, “I really believe in her, as the world does as well. I think Nicola is just absolutely flying.”
