The streets of Marylebone were buzzing with excitement this Friday as Ronnie Wood, the legendary Rolling Stones guitarist, celebrated his son Tyrone’s wedding to Faye Harris, daughter of Iron Maiden’s bassist Steve Harris.
The event was a quintessential rock ‘n’ roll affair, with confetti flying and smiles all around.
The wedding party, including Ronnie’s ex-wife Jo Wood, their children Leah and Jesse, and Jesse’s family, joined the newlyweds for a joyous celebration.
Despite the festive atmosphere, one notable absence was Jamie Wood, Ronnie’s stepson and Tyrone’s half-brother, who chose not to attend the ceremony.
A Family Rift
Jamie, who is now 49, and Tyrone, 41, shared a close bond during their childhood. However, their relationship has deteriorated over the years, largely due to a family dispute involving money.
This rift grew deeper after Ronnie’s divorce from Jo Wood in 2011, a split that Jamie has described as deeply traumatic.
Jamie, who had been taken in by Ronnie at just one year old after Jo’s divorce from her first husband, clothing entrepreneur Peter Greene, had once been like a son to Ronnie.
A source close to the family noted the sadness of their estrangement, reflecting on how Jamie had grown up alongside his step-siblings. “Ronnie and Jamie have drifted apart over time, and it’s unfortunate because Jamie was very close to his stepbrothers and sister,” the source said.
Jamie’s Struggles
Jamie has openly discussed the challenges he faced growing up in the limelight of rock ‘n’ roll.
He often felt overshadowed by his famous stepfather and struggled with the chaotic environment of his childhood. Jamie recalls a time when celebrities like Michael J. Fox and John Belushi were frequent visitors at their New York home, and even at a young age, he was exposed to the rock star lifestyle, including the presence of drugs.
His relationship with Ronnie, once close, began to falter as Jamie grew older and distanced himself from the partying lifestyle that Tyrone embraced.
Jamie’s decision to step away from his own successful business to manage his parents’ finances after a financial crisis only added to the strain, and he was left feeling unappreciated and unsupported during the divorce process.
The Aftermath and Current Status
Following the divorce, Jamie found himself cut off from the family business and was never compensated for his work, which he described as a “nightmare.”
His personal relationship with Ronnie further deteriorated, and Jamie has struggled with feelings of rejection and lack of loyalty. Despite these challenges, Jamie continues to respect Ronnie’s musical talent and acknowledges his contributions to the Rolling Stones.
Now living in Surrey with his wife Jodie and their three children, Jamie reflects on the estranged relationship with his stepfather and the impact it has had on his life.
He remains cautious about exposing his children to the rock star lifestyle, fearing they might face the same disappointment he experienced.
Jamie’s story is a poignant reminder of how family dynamics can be deeply affected by fame and personal conflicts, leaving lasting impacts that are often difficult to mend.
