Kappa’s Ricky Joseph Claims Kaizer Chiefs Outperformed Orlando Pirates in Jersey Sales Last Season Despite Not Winning Any Trophies in South Africa

Ricky Joseph, the head of Kappa SA, recently made an eye-catching statement regarding the jersey sales of PSL powerhouse Kaizer Chiefs.

As Amakhosi kicked off their partnership with Italian sports brand Kappa for the 2023/24 season, they ended a long-standing 23-year relationship with Nike.

The new deal with Kappa spans five years, and we’re now into the second year of this collaboration.

On Thursday, Kaizer Chiefs and Kappa showcased their new home and away kits for the 2024/25 DStv Premiership at the Kaizer Chiefs Village.

This event marked the beginning of their latest season together.

Ricky Joseph’s Statement on Jersey Sales

Ricky Joseph made a bold assertion at the jersey launch, claiming that Kaizer Chiefs outsold Orlando Pirates in jersey sales last season, even though Chiefs didn’t secure any silverware.

Joseph, who was joined by Jessica Motaung at the event, stated, “Kaizer Chiefs sold double the jerseys compared to Orlando Pirates, despite not winning any trophies.”

He emphasized the strength of the Chiefs’ brand, saying, “Kaizer Chiefs is a major force in South Africa and Africa.

Our fans are loyal and won’t be swayed by a few setbacks, but we do need to start delivering results.”

Words from Jessica Motaung

Jessica Motaung, the club’s Marketing and Commercial Director, also expressed her gratitude towards the fans. “We have to thank our supporters for their unwavering faith in us.

With the foundation we’re building, the future looks bright. We’re excited about what’s to come,” said Motaung.
