In a move aimed at assisting vulnerable Nigerians in meeting their medical expenses, the non-profit organization known as 100KClub has generously donated an Alternative Power supply solution to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Maternal and Child Centre (MCC) Gbaja, located in Surulere, Lagos.
Ceremony and Acknowledgments
The donation ceremony took place within the hospital premises and saw the presence of Dr. Olumide Sojinrin, the Medical Director and CEO of the Hospital.
However, Dr. Sojinrin was represented by Dr. Lateefat Agbaje, the Head of the Dental Department. The donated solar project was formally handed over to the hospital on a Friday during a brief ceremony.
Dr. Sojinrin took the opportunity to express his gratitude towards the donors, particularly 100KClub and their partner, Nexus Power, which is also a notable alternative energy supplier in Nigeria.
He emphasized the importance of the support in addressing the hospital’s power-related challenges. Dr. Sojinrin pledged the hospital’s commitment to supporting the vision of 100KClub and assured that the donated power project would be utilized effectively.
Benefits and Purpose of the Alternative Power Solution
The alternative power solution donated by 100KClub has been installed within the MCC.
This installation holds the potential to greatly aid the hospital in conserving energy and reducing costs that are otherwise incurred when sourcing power from external providers.
The primary beneficiaries of this project will be newborns who require critical health care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Initiative and Leadership
The 100KClub is led by Dr. Chinonso Egemba, popularly known as Aproko Doctor, and Dr. Olawale Ogunlana. The organization’s mission is centered around eradicating health-related poverty at every stage of healthcare.
Dr. Olawale Ogunlana provided insights into the initiative’s goal, highlighting that the aim is to prevent the unfortunate mortality of newborn children due to a lack of consistent power supply.
The donated 5.1 KVA unit solar-panel inverter will serve as a reliable power source for crucial medical equipment such as infant incubators, oxygen concentrators, and warmers, all of which play a vital role in the critical care of newborns.
Commitment to Monitoring and Impact
Dr. Olawale Ogunlana also stressed the 100KClub’s commitment to ensuring the success and sustainability of the project.
He assured the hospital management that the organization would actively track the impact of the alternative power solution.
He emphasized their willingness to maintain the system and promptly replace batteries whenever necessary.
In conclusion, the 100KClub’s generous donation of an alternative power supply solution to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Maternal and Child Centre Gbaja reflects their dedication to improving healthcare access and outcomes for vulnerable populations.
This initiative not only addresses immediate power challenges but also stands to positively impact the lives of newborns in need of critical medical attention.
