Thabiso Kutumela has been hired by Cape Town City on a season-long loan.
Since joining the Tshwane giants in 2021, the Mamelodi Sundowns forward has had difficulty breaking into the first team.
Having a strong finisher like Kutumela on the team could help Cape Town City, managed by Eric Tinkler, compete for the championship.
The Cape team fell to Kiazer Chiefs 2-1 on Sunday of the previous weekend in the MTN8 quarterfinals.
The Capetonians have displayed the qualities that helped them finish fourth in the league last season, but this season their bad finishing has been a problem.
Kutumela is brought in by Cape Town City.
Concerned about his team’s dearth of goals, Eric Tinkler asserts that the group has to work on their finishing.
“I believe that the more obvious is finishing. In practice, [Khanyisa] Mayo will be burying such [chances] in games under pressure, Tinkler said.
The Cape Town City coach stated, “We had to be better at that, collectively, not only Mayo.
After previously working together at Maritzburg United from the 2018–19 to the 2020–21 seasons, Tinkler and Kutumela had a tight relationship.
The former Bafana Bafana striker blossomed and scored goals for fun while playing for Tinkler.
The 30-year-old made a high-profile transfer to Sundowns in 2021 after scoring 28 goals in 74 games for the Team of Choice.
Jali ‘presence felt’ against Sundowns, but he paid the price for it.
“We are pleased with the team we have and the lineup we have put together.
According to Tinkler, who was mentioned on FARpost, “I’m really pleased with what I’ve seen from the performances of every single one of them.
