Nigerian Army’s Confrontation with LASTMAs in Lagos Captured on Video
A video recording has surfaced on social media, depicting a confrontation between Nigerian Army personnel and a Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officer.
The incident occurred on Monday, August 14th, 2023, in the Ojota area of Lagos state.
In the video, soldiers can be seen physically assaulting a LASTMA official, who is yet to be identified.
The LASTMA officer pleaded tearfully for mercy during the aggressive encounter.
This confrontation follows a previous incident where a LASTMA official assaulted a soldier inside a commercial vehicle known as a ‘Danfo’ in the Ketu area of Lagos state.
In response to this earlier event, a group of uniformed individuals, presumably colleagues of the assaulted soldier, descended upon the Ojota area.
They engaged in a retaliatory attack, subjecting the on-duty LASTMA official to a severe beating.
During the altercation, bystanders were observed fleeing to safety while the military personnel continued their assault on the LASTMA official.
The distressed official can be seen appealing for assistance amidst the chaos of the incident.
