…By Lola Smith for TDPel Media. Former Presidential aide Reno Omokri has expressed admiration for Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the previous election, for his substantial investment in Anambra State schools during his tenure as governor.
In response to the consistent success of Deeper Life Schools in producing the highest scorers in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), Omokri suggested that the Federal Ministry of Education should study how the school achieves this feat.
Recommendations for the Federal Ministry of Education
Omokri called on the Federal Ministry of Education to create policies based on the discoveries made at Deeper Life Schools, enabling other schools across the nation to implement these successful strategies.
While acknowledging that Peter Obi may not have constructed new schools in Anambra State, Omokri emphasized the enduring impact of Obi’s investment in education, which continues to yield positive results.
Commendation for Deeper Life School and Thoughts on English Language in UTME
Omokri commended Deeper Life School for not only producing the highest scorer in the 2023 UTME but also generating other high scorers.
He suggested that the Federal Ministry of Education should consider sending observers to study the school’s methods and apply their findings in the formulation of policies that can benefit schools nationwide.
Additionally, Omokri questioned the inclusion of English in the UTME, suggesting that as long as students have achieved a credit in English in their GCE, WAEC, or NECO exams, it should be sufficient.
Appreciation for Peter Obi’s Contributions to Education
In conclusion, Omokri applauded Peter Obi for his significant investments in education during his tenure as Governor of Anambra State.
While acknowledging that Obi may not have constructed new schools, Omokri highlighted the positive impact of Obi’s initiatives on the state’s educational institutions.
He noted that years later, the effects of Obi’s investments are still evident in the success of young Nigerians, including those from Anambra State, who continue to bring pride to the nation.
