…By Larry John for TDPel Media. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has taken action against Mmesoma Ejikeme, barring her from sitting for its examination for a period of three years.
JAMB maintains that the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result she presented is “patently fake.”
The decision was announced in a statement by JAMB’s spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, on Tuesday.
Withdrawal of UTME Result and Accusations of Manipulation
On Sunday, JAMB had already withdrawn the UTME result of Ms Ejikeme, citing manipulation and falsification of scores.
In response, Ms Ejikeme released a viral video on Monday, denying any forgery and suggesting that there may have been a technical malfunction in JAMB’s system.
JAMB Affirms Authenticity of its System
JAMB reassures the public that its system was not tampered with or compromised.
The board clarifies that Ms Ejikeme falsified a copy of the result slip belonging to Asimiyu Mariam Omobolanle, who had taken the UTME in 2021 and scored 138.
Evidence from QR Code and Actual Result Slips
JAMB emphasizes that the candidate inadvertently revealed the rightful owner of the result she presented when she pointed out that the QR code on the result slip belonged to the actual owner.
JAMB urges the public to scan the QR code on the result slip to see its true owner before it was manipulated.
The QR code encapsulates the UTME result of each candidate, confirming the authenticity of the information on the result sheet.
JAMB’s Measures to Prevent Falsification
JAMB explains that it stopped issuing notification of result slips in 2021 to prevent candidates from falsifying their UTME results.
Since 2022, JAMB has been issuing actual UTME result slips, which include the candidate’s photograph.
Mmesoma Ejikeme Reported to Security Authorities
JAMB concludes by stating that Ms Ejikeme has been reported to security authorities.
The board emphasizes its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process and taking appropriate actions against any form of malpractice.
JAMB’s decision to bar Ms Ejikeme from future examinations for three years underscores the importance of upholding honesty and integrity in the education system.
