In a statement issued by the State Assistant Publicity Secretary of APC, Olusola Ogunsanya, the party labeled Daniel’s interview as filled with lies and falsehoods.

Daniel’s Alleged Support for PDP in Ogun State Elections

The statement further alleged that Gbenga Daniel actually supported the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidates during the last general elections in Ogun State.

It claimed that Governor Dapo Abiodun rescued Daniel from political oblivion and accused him of being a serial betrayer despite advice from Tinubu to the contrary.

Setting the Records Straight on Daniel’s Political History

The APC statement clarified that there is no record of Gbenga Daniel playing a role in Tinubu’s emergence as governor in Lagos State in 1999.

It highlighted that Daniel contested under the PDP, not the Alliance for Democracy (AD), in 2003, which raises questions about the structure he claimed to be a part of.

The statement emphasized Daniel’s eight-year tenure as a PDP governor before being defeated by Ibikunle Amosun, who declared him persona non grata in the state.

Tinubu’s Alleged Insight on Daniel’s Reputation

The statement concluded by referencing President Tinubu’s alleged awareness of Gbenga Daniel’s political tactics and reputation as a serial betrayer.

It claimed that Tinubu once taunted Daniel in the presence of some senators, advising him to work on improving his reputation.

The statement likened Daniel’s behavior to that of a leopard that cannot change its spots.

Conclusion:

The Ogun State chapter of the APC strongly refuted Gbenga Daniel’s claims of supporting President Bola Tinubu.

They labeled Daniel’s assertions as false and accused him of supporting the PDP in Ogun State elections.

The party also provided a counter-narrative regarding Daniel’s political history and highlighted President Tinubu’s alleged insights into Daniel’s reputation.
