…By Enitan Thompson for TDPel Media. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed its dissatisfaction with the Department of State Services (DSS), urging them to move beyond rhetorical statements and take effective action to address the security situation in Nigeria.
The association believes that it is crucial for the DSS to actively pursue criminals rather than simply issuing statements during festive periods without any tangible results.
Chairman of Kaduna State Chapter of CAN Reacts to DSS Alert
Rev’d Joseph John Hayab, Chairman of the Kaduna State Chapter of CAN, voiced these concerns in response to the recent alert issued by the DSS regarding potential attacks on religious and recreational locations during the upcoming Eid Kabir festival.
Hayab emphasized that Nigerians would greatly appreciate it if the DSS would focus their efforts on apprehending criminals and terrorists, rather than contributing to further trauma through mere statements.
Calls for Proactive Measures and Collaboration
Hayab expressed his hopes that the DSS’s alert was not intended as a diversionary tactic and stressed the importance of the agency actively pursuing terrorists and criminals before they can carry out their plans.
He acknowledged the recent appointment of new security chiefs, except for the DSS, and urged all stakeholders to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
Hayab emphasized that security is everyone’s responsibility and called for strategic action rather than mere propaganda.
Emphasizing the Importance of Collaboration and Vigilance
The clergyman reiterated the need for proactive measures to tackle security challenges and emphasized the significance of collaboration among all Nigerians.
He encouraged citizens to remain alert and report any suspicious activities, emphasizing that everyone has a role to play in ensuring the safety and security of the country.
Hayab concluded by emphasizing that security should be a collective effort, requiring strategic action rather than reactive statements or propaganda.
