…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. Following the approval of 20 Special Advisers by the 9th Senate, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the appointments of his first batch of Special Advisers.
In a statement released on Thursday through the Director of Information, State House, Abiodun Oladunjoye, the appointment of eight aides was disclosed.
Dele Alake – Special Adviser, Special Duties, Communications and Strategy
Dele Alake, a long-time ally of President Tinubu, has been appointed as the Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy.
Alake, a journalist, activist, and technocrat, previously served as Commissioner for Information and Strategy during Tinubu’s tenure as the governor of Lagos.
He played a significant role as a communication advisor and confidant to Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, the winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 Presidential election.
Wale Edun – Special Adviser, Monetary Policies
Wale Edun, another close ally of Tinubu, has been appointed as the Special Adviser on Monetary Policies.
Edun, a British-trained financial expert with extensive experience in the banking sector, previously served as the Lagos State Commissioner of Finance during Tinubu’s governorship.
He co-founded several businesses, including Denham Management Limited and Chapel Hill Denham Group, a prominent investment bank in Lagos.
Nuhu Ribadu – Special Adviser, Security
Nuhu Ribadu, a lawyer, police officer, and politician, has been appointed as Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Security Matters.
Ribadu gained recognition as the pioneer Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and has held various public offices, including Chairman of the Petroleum Revenue Task Force.
He studied law at Ahmadu Bello University and earned a Master’s degree in Law from the same university.
Ribadu is also a TED Fellow and a Senior Fellow at St. Antony’s College, University of Oxford.
Olu Verheijen – Special Adviser, Energy
Olu Verheijen has been appointed as the Special Adviser on Energy.
Verheijen brings nearly 20 years of experience in the gas and renewables sectors across Sub-Saharan Africa.
She currently serves as the Managing Director at Latimer Energy, a consulting firm specializing in energy asset management.
Verheijen is the Founder/CEO of BFA Foundation, which funds scholarships for women and disadvantaged groups in high-growth sectors.
She holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
Zachaeus Adedeji – Special Adviser, Revenue
Zachaeus Adedeji, an astute accountant and public finance expert, has been appointed as the Special Adviser on Revenue.
He previously served as Commissioner for Finance in Oyo State and the Executive Secretary of the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC).
Adedeji is the co-founder and managing partner of RTR, a financial consulting firm providing advisory services in West Africa.
He holds a first-class degree in Accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University and a certificate in Comparative Tax Policy and Administration from Harvard Kennedy School.
Salma Ibrahim Anas – Special Adviser, Health
Salma Ibrahim Anas, a former Borno State Commissioner for Health, has been appointed as the Special Adviser on Health.
During her tenure as Commissioner, Anas played a crucial role in establishing rehabilitation centers and providing counseling and support for individuals affected by the Boko Haram insurgency.
She is the daughter of former Borno State deputy governor, Ibrahim Anas.
Yan Darazo – Special Adviser, Political and Intergovernmental Affairs
Yan Darazo, who previously served as Special Adviser on Special Duties to former President Muhammadu Buhari, has been appointed as the Special Adviser on Political and Intergovernmental Affairs to President Tinubu.
