During an interview with Amol Rajan on the BBC, the former This Morning presenter explained that he frequently visited schools upon invitation, an experience he had encountered numerous times.
Schofield Clarifies the Nature of the Twitter Interaction
Schofield clarified that he was requested to follow a 15-year-old “fan” back on Twitter, a request to which he agreed.
He emphasized that despite following a considerable number of people on Twitter (11,300), there had never been any hint of impropriety throughout his time on the platform.
Schofield’s Recent Interaction and Legal Support
Schofield revealed that his most recent contact with his former lover occurred a couple of weeks ago when he arranged for a lawyer to provide independent support.
He confirmed that he is personally covering the cost of the man’s legal advice.
Schofield Discusses Their Initial Meeting and Limited Communication
Recounting their first encounter, Schofield mentioned that he was invited to open a drama school by a friend.
Following the event, he agreed to follow his former lover on Twitter, who was identified as a fan.
Although they had sporadic contact, Schofield mentioned that the young man had reached out to him for a potential work experience opportunity at the television studio.
Schofield Addresses Flirting Accusations and His Career History
When asked by Rajan if there were any indications of flirting in their messages, Schofield firmly denied the allegations.
He emphasized his lengthy career in television spanning 41 years and stated that he had never encountered a situation like this before, with no prior accusations of impropriety.
