…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. Former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has clarified that his absence at the inauguration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf was not due to seeking an appointment.
However, Ganduje stated that if he were offered a position by President Bola Tinubu, he would accept it.
In an interview with BBC Hausa, Ganduje expressed optimism about Tinubu’s presidency and pledged his support based on Tinubu’s track record.
Regarding the perceived rift between Ganduje and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Ganduje affirmed that they maintain a cordial relationship.
He explained that his decision to skip Yusuf’s inauguration was due to concerns about potential violence between their respective supporters.
Ganduje differentiated between the handover of power, which includes the transfer of documents and information, and the inauguration itself.
He noted that when outgoing and incoming governments belong to different political parties, attending the inauguration is not always necessary to avoid potential clashes.
It is worth mentioning that Ganduje handed over to Yusuf on Sunday evening in order to attend Tinubu’s inauguration.
