DSS Denies Blocking EFCC from Accessing Lagos Office, Calls for End to Speculations

…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. The Department of State Services (DSS) has refuted claims that its staff prevented agents from the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) from entering its Lagos office.

According to Peter Afunanya, the spokesperson for the DSS, the agency was conducting an operation within its own premises and facility.

DSS Clarifies Position on EFCC Access and Property Ownership

Afunanya emphasized that the DSS did not barricade the EFCC from entering its office and that such claims were untrue.

He explained that the DSS was solely occupying its own facility to carry out its official and statutory responsibilities.

Moreover, Afunanya dismissed any suggestions of a property ownership dispute regarding the No 15A Awolowo Road location, which had been mentioned in the media.

Regarding the ownership of the building, Afunanya highlighted that the EFCC had not contested it.

He expressed surprise at the notion of ownership contention, stating that the Awolowo Road property had originally served as the headquarters of the National Security Organization (NSO) before becoming the base of the State Security Service (SSS)/DSS.
