…By Larry John for TDPel Media. Numerous concerned motorists contacted the police to report a car dangerously towing a van that was perched precariously on a trailer on the M5 highway.
In response to the frantic calls about the potential for an accident on the motorway, the Central Motorway Policing Group (CMPG) launched a search for the vehicle and trailer.
According to Birmingham Live, the CMPG issued a warning to the driver for allegedly operating a vehicle in a dangerous position.
The CMPG highlighted that the van’s positioning severely hindered the steering and braking of the trailer, posing a significant risk.
On Twitter, the CMPG posted, “Steering and trailer braking severely inhibited by the load.
Vehicle prohibited.
Driver reported for using a vehicle in a dangerous condition.”
A spokesperson elaborated on the situation, stating that the van had assumed its precarious position during loading and was secured using straps to the rear wheels and across the inside of the cab.
Although the van was not insecure, its placement created a dangerous condition due to impairments to the steering and braking systems.
