Sharjah Chamber, Cuban counterpart discuss boosting trade and economic cooperation
SHARJAH, 17th February, 2022 – The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has discussed with its Cuban counterpart enhancing joint work to develop commercial activity and areas of economic cooperation between them.

The two sides also explored available investment opportunities while highlighting the importance of strengthening communication mechanisms to organise mutual visits of business owners, missions and trade delegations.

This came during the meeting held recently between Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI, and Antonio Carricarte Corona, President of the Chamber of Commerce in Cuba.

The meeting took place at the representative office of the Sharjah Chamber participating in Expo 2020 Dubai.

Al Owais said that the SCCI aims to exchange investments and strengthen the movement of commercial and tourism activity between the Emirate of Sharjah and Cuba, where the two countries aspire to enhance economic ties and get the most out of their great resources.

This would help open new prospects for the business communities and attract new investments to both friendly countries.

Al Owais highlighted the SCCI services to support the private sector and the business environment in Sharjah and its role in developing commercial relations for Sharjah in particular and the UAE in general.

He pointed out that Sharjah is a gateway for Gulf and regional markets, thanks to its strategic location and sophisticated logistics services it provides.

Antonio Corona commended the UAE’s outstanding position at the regional and international levels, asserting his country’s eagerness to strengthen relations and raise the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, while making way for businessmen to benefit from the investment opportunities in the two countries.

He highlighted the importance of forging sustainable partnerships in the booming sectors, such as the health and renewable energy sectors, due to the UAE’s global leadership in this field.

“I hope the coming stage will see a quantum leap in the volume of economic, trade, tourism and investment relations for the benefit of the two friendly countries,” he added.

Several officials from both sides attended the meeting.
