Media briefing on COVID-19 pandemic to take place every two weeks
ABU DHABI, 16th February 2022 – Dr.
Farida Al Hosani, Official Spokesperson of the UAE Health Sector, said that keeping in mind the current COVID-19 pandemic situation and the decline in infections, the UAE Government media briefing will now be held every two weeks.
The authorities concerned are working to achieve sustainable development of the healthcare sector by implementing strategic policies and standards related to the public health sector, healthcare and preventive services, and drafting legislation that regulate the development of the national health sector, she added.
The UAE has adopted a professional approach to addressing the pandemic.
It has established an appropriate action plan that is among the most successful global models during the crisis, conducting intensive medical tests and working to curb the spread of the virus, she further added.
Al Hosani stressed that the UAE’s health sector provides vaccines to eligible community segments.
She noted that 100 percent of the population has taken their first vaccine dose while 95.
21 percent are fully vaccinated.
Vaccines are crucial to ending the pandemic, and providing them is an international scientific achievement, she added, affirming that the country offers vaccines to citizens and residents free of charge.
“We urge all eligible individuals to visit the nearest vaccination centre and take the vaccine and a booster if appropriate, contact health authorities for more information and make an appointment to take the vaccine,” she stressed.
Al Hosani highlighted the fact that the UAE’s success against COVID-19 is due to the vision of its leadership.
She added that all sectors are cooperating with the health sector at full capacity to continue analysing the local and international situation and ensure an immediate response.
She then stressed the importance of community members adhering to all preventive measures and supporting the national efforts to protect their health and safety.
Al Hosani urged the public to cooperate and commit to preventive measures, especially wearing face masks, avoiding overcrowding and regularly sanitising.
