Friday, February 4, 2022 – Deputy President William Ruto has responded to claims by Jubilee Party Secretary-General, Raphael Tuju, that he wanted to sabotage President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government in 2018.
On Friday, Tuju, who appeared on Inooro FM, claimed the second in command plotted to sabotage Uhuru’s administration and make the country ungovernable.
To execute his plans, Tuju said that the second in command approached ODM leader Raila Odinga long before the 2018 handshake to join forces and defeat Uhuru’s agenda in Parliament.
“He was the first person to approach Raila so that they could blackmail the President,” Tuju said.
Tuju’s sentiments have elicited heated debate among Kenyans with Ruto, through his spokesperson Emmanuel Talam, questioning why the claims were not made before.
“Why was the claim made now and not in 2018? Wajinga wameisha Kenya,” Talam said.
Earlier in the interview, Tuju had said that Uhuru abandoned Ruto because of corruption at his office.
