APC Stalwart Abdulmajid Danbilki Kwamanda Arrested by DSS Over Threats to Incite Unrest in Kano

Abdulmajid Danbilki Kwamanda, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been apprehended by the Department of State Services (DSS) on charges related to his purported threat of mobilizing the masses to instigate an uprising, intending to render Kano ungovernable.

Reports indicate that Kwamanda had allegedly made declarations to mobilize large-scale protests in Kano, aiming to create chaos to the extent that the federal government would be compelled to declare a state of emergency in the state.

Accusations Against NNPP Leader and Emir Restoration Claims

In addition to his alleged plans for mass mobilization, Kwamanda, during a recent radio interview, accused Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), of orchestrating a scheme to reinstate Muhammadu Sanusi, the deposed 14th Emir of Kano.

These contentious statements, made in a public forum, raised concerns and drew the attention of security agencies.

DSS Confirmation of Arrest

A senior official from the Department of State Services in Kano has confirmed the arrest, disclosing that it was prompted by the circulation of a video featuring one of Kwamanda’s recent radio interviews.

The anonymous official stated that following the arrest, Kwamanda was handed over to the police and subsequently charged before a Magistrate Court in Kano.

The court, in turn, ordered his remand to a correctional facility.

Political Dissatisfaction and Criticisms

Kwamanda, reportedly expressing dissatisfaction with the Supreme Court’s judgment affirming the election of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in Kano, has also criticized President Bola Tinubu for allegedly not ensuring the APC’s continued dominance in the state.

Furthermore, he joined others in condemning recent decisions such as the Central Bank of Nigeria’s relocation of staff to Lagos from Abuja and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria’s headquarters move from Abuja to Lagos.

These criticisms, according to Kwamanda, are part of a larger plan orchestrated by the Tinubu-led administration to undermine the northern region of the country.

The arrest of Abdulmajid Danbilki Kwamanda highlights the intersection of political dissent, security concerns, and allegations of destabilization, adding a layer of complexity to the evolving political landscape in Kano.
