Emeka Chochoo, the former manager of renowned Nigerian actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has disclosed the reason behind the actor’s recent leg amputation.

According to Chochoo, the amputation was a result of an infection affecting the arteries at the ankle, which unfortunately went undetected in its early stages.

In an interview with Punch on Thursday, Chochoo shed light on the health challenges faced by Mr Ibu.

He revealed that the infection impacted one of the arteries at the ankle, leading to a significant decrease in blood flow to the affected leg.

Unfortunately, the condition was not identified in time, prompting the doctors to make the difficult decision of amputation.

Successful Surgeries and Treatment Progress: Mr Ibu’s Response to Care

Chochoo shared that Mr Ibu has undergone seven successful surgeries, including the amputation procedure.

Despite the challenges, the actor is reportedly responding well to treatment. Chochoo emphasized that the medical team is addressing the various aspects of Mr Ibu’s health concerns step by step.

Healing in Nigeria: Current Care and Future Plans

The former manager clarified that the surgeries, including the amputation, were conducted in Nigeria. While Mr Ibu is currently receiving care in the country, plans are in place for his eventual transfer abroad for further treatment. Chochoo expressed optimism about Mr Ibu’s gradual healing and the ongoing efforts to restore his health.
