The South African Constitution is oftentimes lauded as the best in the world; however, nearly thirty years after its adoption in 1996, new voices are emerging and challenging this narrative.
Some academics from various institutions across the country are raising questions that call into question what the Constitution is supposed to represent, reflect, and serve.
This month, we take A Deeper Look at these challenges and ask the experts what needs to be done to improve the South African constitution.
