Arrest in Sierra Leone: Nigerian Murder Suspect Apprehended

Benjamin Nnanyereugo, a murder suspect accused of killing his girlfriend in Nigeria, has been arrested in Sierra Leone.

The Lagos State Police Command of the Nigeria Police Force confirmed this development. Preparations are now underway for the extradition of the suspect to Nigeria.

Confirmation by Lagos State Police Command

The Lagos State Police Command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Saturday.

Sierra Leonean police authorities apprehended Nnanyereugo, and efforts are being made to bring him back to Nigeria.

Wanted for Girlfriend’s Death

Nnanyereugo had been declared wanted by the Lagos State Police Command on October 11 in connection with the death of his girlfriend, Augusta Osedion.

It is suspected that he murdered the 21-year-old woman on July 13, 2023, at his residence in Oral Estate, Ajah area, Lagos.

Exhausting All Options

The police spokesperson had earlier stated that all available options to apprehend the suspect had been exhausted, leading to the declaration of him as wanted.

Nnanyereugo is described as 26 years old, approximately 5’9 feet tall, hailing from Abia State. He has a dark complexion and is fluent in English, Igbo, and pidgin English.

Appeal for Information

The statement urged the public to contact the nearest police station or call 0803 688 5727 if they have any information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts.

The arrest in Sierra Leone represents a significant step in the ongoing investigation into the alleged murder.
