Oluwafeyiropo Daniel, Founder of I Reign Christian Ministry, Closes Defense in Rape Trial
Defendant Denies Charges, Alleges Conspiracy
Oluwafeyiropo Daniel, the founder of I Reign Christian Ministry, closed his defense on Friday in his trial for alleged rape.
Daniel is charged before an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court for allegedly raping two women – an assistant pastor and another member of his church.
He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
During cross-examination by state counsel Babajide Boye, Daniel denied the charges and alleged that the alleged victims had conspired against him.
He also denied giving N100,000 to one of the alleged victims for medical treatment.
Defendant Claims He Is Not a Manipulator
Boye asked Daniel if his position as a pastor and someone whom people approached for counseling made him manipulate people.
Daniel denied being a manipulator, saying that he is a pastor who does not use power to counsel people.
He said that he is trained to counsel and uses wisdom and the leading of the spirit.
Defendant Denies Tampering with Evidence
Daniel also denied tampering with WhatsApp messages between him and one of the alleged survivors.
Defense Closes Case
After Daniel’s testimony, defense counsel Olukunle Oyewole informed the court that the defense would be closing its case.
Court Adjourns for Final Addresses
Justice Rahman Oshodi admitted some extrajudicial statements from the defense counsel in evidence and marked them Exhibits E1 to E7.
Oshodi adjourned the case until December 20 for adoption of final written addresses by defense and prosecution counsel.
