DSS Reveals Criminals Posing as Biafra Agitators Behind South East Attacks
The Department of State Security Services (DSS) has made a significant revelation, stating that individuals with criminal intentions are disguising themselves as Biafra agitators and are responsible for the violent attacks occurring in the South East region of Nigeria.
DSS Director’s Statement at an Event
This revelation was shared by DSS Director in Imo State, Wilcox Idaminabo, during an event organized by the Center for Transparency Advocacy (CTA).
The event was held in preparation for the upcoming November 11 governorship election in the state.
Violent Acts Under the Guise of Biafra Ideology
Idaminabo disclosed that the attacks on lives and properties in the South East are being carried out under the cover of the Biafra agitation.
Criminals are camouflaging their actions as part of the struggle for Biafra’s self-determination.
Hidden Threat to the Region
These criminals are using the Biafra ideology as a façade for perpetrating violence and other criminal activities.
The DSS official expressed concern, stating, “They are hiding under this guise to perpetrate killings and turn our people into slaves in their own homes.”
Challenging Scenes in Orsu LGA
Idaminabo further described the horrific scenes he encountered when leading an operation in Orsu Local Government Area.
He mentioned the discovery of headless bodies scattered in the bush and abandoned vehicles, painting a grim picture of the situation.
IPOB’s Call for Leader’s Release
In the midst of these revelations, the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) continues to demand the release of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, in order to further their cause for the Biafra Republic.
Global Terrorism Index Ranking
It’s important to note that on March 15, the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) ranked IPOB as the 10th deadliest terror group in the world.
The GTI attributed 40 attacks and 57 deaths in 2022 to the group, raising concerns about their activities and their impact on the region.
