Sylva’s Critique of Duoye Diri
Timipre Sylva, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the upcoming election in Bayelsa State, did not mince words in his criticism of the incumbent Governor and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Duoye Diri. Sylva asserted that Diri lacked the necessary experience to effectively govern the state.
Diri’s Limited Governance Experience
Sylva pointed out that Diri’s primary experience in governance was a short tenure as a Senator, which was followed by his role as a principal secretary.
According to Sylva, these roles do not provide sufficient experience to lead Bayelsa, especially when compared to his own qualifications.
Sylva’s Experience and Promises
During a campaign tour in various areas of Bayelsa, Sylva emphasized his own extensive experience.
He pledged to execute significant projects for the state if elected in the November election.
Addressing Bayelsa’s Challenges
Sylva stressed that solving the challenges facing the people of Bayelsa required a leader with the right experience.
He outlined some of the projects he intends to undertake, such as extending a road to Agge and operationalizing a health center in Peretorugbene.
He also promised to address issues of constant electricity and water supply.
Flood and Erosion Solutions
Recognizing the problems of flooding and erosion in the state, Sylva expressed confidence in providing solutions.
He claimed to have the answers and be the solution to these issues.
Empowering the People and Developing Agriculture
Sylva highlighted his focus on developing and empowering the people, particularly women.
He stressed plans for the development of agriculture, emphasizing his commitment to improving the lives of Bayelsa’s residents.
Experience as a Key Differentiator
Sylva asserted that Duoye Diri lacked the experience required to address the various issues he had discussed.
He contrasted Diri’s limited background, including a short Senate tenure and a role as a classroom teacher, with his own extensive experience, which he pledged to leverage for the development of Bayelsa State.
