The dogs were relocated to a secure area where shelter personnel are taking care of them.

Three Maltese puppies had been left outside the Sheffield Animal Sanctuary in a sealed box with airholes.

Last weekend, three Maltese puppies kept in a box with air holes outside an animal refuge in Sheffield were left behind.

The canines, which were thought to be seven or eight weeks old, were found by Thornberry Animal Sanctuary staff on Friday, August 25.

Although there was no kennel space available, the sanctuary was able to rearrange things and create a “safe space where they are being cared for by our team.”

In a Facebook post, the animal rescue reaffirmed that its team “does not judge whoever left them,” but said that it is “more challenging” to give them the care they need without “understanding their background or their current health condition.”

The “beautiful pups a better start in life,” according to a new donation plea from Thornberry Animal Sanctuary.

The animal sanctuary described how the dogs were discovered in the package by the workers, who had initially thought it contained donations.

However, when they looked more closely, they saw activity inside, according to staff.

We initially believed it to be a cat, but when we opened the box, three lovely balls of white fluff were waiting for us.

Although we can’t be positive for sure, we estimate their age to be between seven and eight weeks, and we suspect they are Maltese puppies.

The sanctuary’s veterinarian examined the puppies after they were brought there.

The refuge was then full, so staff members attempted to find them new homes.

The staff is now pleading with people to give and support other animals that are similarly abandoned.

Thornberry Animal Sanctuary stated, “Even if our kennels are overflowing and all of our resources are used up, we are always dedicated to being here for dogs like these.”

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident.

We are seeing an increase in the number of dogs and other animals coming into rescue, many of which have medical issues that require attention.”

According to the shelter, anyone can change lives by making a “one-time donation” or by setting up a “monthly recurring payment.”

It is supporters like you that influence the future for creatures like them, the staff continued.

The shelter also claimed to have gotten a “huge” number of applications from people eager to adopt the puppies, but it added that the application period has since ended.

Instead, staff advises animal lovers to “consider an adult dog in rescue; they are all deserving of a new chance.”
