Pope Francis has requested prayers as he readies himself for a visit to the scarcely inhabited nation of Mongolia, which he referred to as “the heart of Asia.” His journey will span around 5,600 miles to reach Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, and is scheduled to take place from August 31 to September 4.
During his weekly Angelus address at the Vatican on August 27, the Pope expressed his anticipation for the upcoming visit, stating that it is a highly anticipated event. He emphasized that this excursion will provide him with the opportunity to connect with a small yet spiritually vibrant and benevolent Church, and to personally engage with the Mongolian people, known for their wisdom, noble character, and strong religious heritage. Notably, the visit will include participation in an interreligious event, further facilitating his understanding of the local religious traditions.
