Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress Kristin Chenoweth, aged 55, has always been candid about her adoption story.
She has shared in the past how her adoptive parents conveyed to her the profound sentiment that while her biological mother gave her life, it was they who provided her with a life.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, the renowned Broadway star honored her birth mother Lynn, affectionately known as Mamalynn, and announced her passing.
Chenoweth expressed, “The angel who brought me into this world has departed.
The more than ten years I spent with her were nothing short of magical.
I discovered much about myself through our meeting and the deepening of our connection.
Those fortunate enough to have known her were captivated by her radiance, her affinity for music, and her embrace of all things artistic—traits she herself possessed.”
Chenoweth went on to acknowledge her biological parents, revealing that her artistic talents stem from her mother and father, musician Billy Ethridge.
She stated, “Mamalynn held a special birthday prayer for me each year, wishing for the utmost happiness in my life, a wish that was undoubtedly fulfilled.
And in return, I offered my own silent prayers for her, hoping for the opportunity to express my gratitude.
That opportunity finally arrived on 12/12/12—a day that held its own beauty and significance. Our final moments together left no words unspoken.”
Expressing her deep feelings, Chenoweth shared, “The absence of her presence will be felt throughout my days, but I hold onto the belief that we will reunite in the celestial expanse.
As I ascend to the heavens, I envision her welcoming me with open arms, encouraging me to raise my voice in song, just as she always did.”
Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon, known for her role in Legally Blonde and who shared the screen with Chenoweth in the 2008 movie Four Christmases, was among the first to extend her support.
On Instagram, Witherspoon conveyed, “This tribute is truly touching.
Sing her melody, babygirl.”
Heather Blair, another actress from Legally Blonde, simply posted the word “Love” accompanied by a yellow heart emoji, a gesture of solidarity and sympathy.
Likewise, Kenny Ortega, the accomplished US filmmaker renowned for directing the High School Musical franchise, conveyed his condolences.
He shared, “Sending love, light, and heartfelt condolences to you, Kristin, as well as your siblings.”
