100 People Living With HIV/AIDS Enrolled Into Anambra Health Insurance Scheme

One hundred people living with HIV/AIDS have been enrolled into the Anambra State Health Insurance scheme for a period of two years.

 

The enrollment facilitated by the State Ministry of Health, was financed by the United Nations Aids.

 

Speaking during the event in Awka, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala represented by the permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Linus Nwankwo said that HIV has been observed to be more of the disease of the poor requiring enormous resources for its diagnosis, treatment, care and support noting that all  have been  be financially challenging to the government at all levels and her implementing partners.

 

Dr. Okpala thanked all their partners for their support and urged the beneficiaries to utilize the opportunity.

 

The Executive Secretary of Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi represented by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on ASHIA, Mr. Dozie Okpalugo said that Anambra State Health Insurance Agency is committed to giving beneficiaries quality service delivery.

 

The Anambra state programme co-ordinator of AIDS, Mr. Afam Aneme said that the beneficiaries are carefully selected based on age and vulnerability among others.

 

In a vote of thanks, the Anambra state co-ordinator, Network of People Living With HIV/AIDS, Mrs. Gladys Nwambu thanked their benefactor and assured that they will make maximum use of the opportunity.

 

Presentation of ASHIA cards to the beneficiaries by the Commissioner was the highlight of the event.
